My same --- partner left me after 20 years together. We met when we were 24. Now that I am single again, everyone expects me to date women. I tell people that she left me and they try to set me up with their lesbian friends. But I am not a lesbian! People get so confused when I say I'm looking to date men as well as women, as if I couldn't really be bi if I was with her for that long. Or else they have always seen me as their lesbian friend, and now I am screwing up their whole idea of who I am by dating men. I know who and what I am, but it would be SO much easier if I were simply gay or straight. I wish I could get people to understand that I loved her for who she was, not what gender she was.
